There is nothing in this world that can fully prepare you for becoming a parent. People tell you how much you will love your child, and you start to feel that while you’re pregnant, but it’s not until that moment that you first hold your baby that you realize a kind of love you’ve never known before. It transforms your whole life, and you will never be the same. I absolutely adore capturing these early moments between parents and their new babies. There’s something special about meeting in their home, photographing their nursery that they have so lovingly prepared, and watching them love on their new baby…and capturing this for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law made it that much more incredible!
I first met Ashley and Erik back at their maternity session in June, and so to watch them transition (in my eyes) seamlessly into their role as new parents has been so neat! They work as a team for their sweet baby girl, and they are both wrapped around her little fingers already. They adore their sweet girl, and I loved capturing these moments for them. In the midst of the blur that become the first few weeks after having a baby, it’s always nice to be able to relax, have a reason to shower and get dressed and feel pretty, and just love on your sweet new baby without any of the other demands calling for your attention.
Baby Sophia’s newborn session was the first one I photographed since I officially started offering Lifestyle Newborn Sessions, and I’m so in love with it! Heather and I worked on designing an album that would showcase the images in a beautiful way, and I’m in love with how it turned out! I include these coffee table albums in all of my newborn collections because I believe it is SO important that your images don’t just sit on your computer! This is a way that I can help the new parents ensure that their images from the day are printed to show off for years to come.
In mid-January, and a month before her actual due date, Heather and Sam surprisingly welcomed their beautiful daughter Sophia to this world! There is nothing like a very early first baby to really throw you into parenthood (I’ve been there!), because you generally think you still have several weeks to finish all preparations! But at the same time, having your baby with you that much earlier is an incredible gift, and one that these two wouldn’t change for the world. Watching them love on their daughter together, they made the transition to parenthood look seamless. These two adore their beautiful girl, and spending the morning with them was an incredible gift!
