I love watching dads on the floor, playing with their kids. I love watching mommas snuggle their sweet kiddos in their laps. I love watching families grow, love, and laugh together. I love the unstructured nature of these sessions, and just enjoy letting the kids kind of set the pace so they enjoy it as we go along!
I just love this little family! I first met Erin over 3 years ago when she was assisting at a wedding I was 2nd shooting. We became friends, and we have photographed a number of weddings together since then, despite the fact that we live over 2 hours apart. :-) We’ve also photographed each other’s families a few times, so it was a joy to be able to capture this family again! I hadn’t met their youngest, Penny, and so it worked out perfectly to meet up with them right after Penny turned 1. I drove out to Harrisonburg and spent my evening with this sweet family. Enjoy some of my favorites from our time together!
There is nothing in this world that can fully prepare you for becoming a parent. People tell you how much you will love your child, and you start to feel that while you’re pregnant, but it’s not until that moment that you first hold your baby that you realize a kind of love you’ve never known before. It transforms your whole life, and you will never be the same. I absolutely adore capturing these early moments between parents and their new babies. There’s something special about meeting in their home, photographing their nursery that they have so lovingly prepared, and watching them love on their new baby…and capturing this for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law made it that much more incredible!
I am so thrilled that you have found your way here! I’m Karen, a wedding and lifestyle photographer with a passion for ice cream, dogs, and Gilmore Girls. My blog is a place where I can share love stories with you, whether it’s an engagement, a wedding day, or the welcoming of a new baby! It is also a scrapbook of my life and a little glimpse into our home, our love, and our family. I hope you will enjoy following along!
